Welcome to The Next Move. These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Sentient Research (“we,” “our,” or “us”) that governs your access to and use of the website at www.projectnextmove.org and the videos, content, and resources available through it (collectively, the “Site”).
By accessing or using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
Please read these Terms carefully along with our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
1. About The Next Move
The Next Move is an entertainment-education program designed to support the sexual and reproductive health and healthy relationships of young people ages 15 to 19 in the United States. The Site provides educational videos, information, and links to additional resources. The Site is operated by Sentient Research, a research organization headquartered in California.
2. Eligibility and Use by Minors
The Site is intended for young people ages 15 to 19, as well as parents, guardians, educators, health professionals, and other adults supporting young people in this age range.
If you are under the age of 18, you should review these Terms with a parent, guardian, or other trusted adult before using the Site. By using the Site, you confirm that you have your parent or guardian’s permission to do so, where required by applicable law.
The Site is not directed to children under the age of 13. If you are under 13, please do not use the Site.
3. Educational Purpose Only — Not Medical or Professional Advice
The Site is intended for educational and informational purposes only. The content on the Site does not constitute medical advice, mental health advice, legal advice, or any other professional advice and is not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional.
- Always consult a qualified healthcare provider about your individual health, including questions about sexual and reproductive health, contraception, sexually transmitted infections, pregnancy, mental health, or any medical condition.
- Never disregard or delay seeking medical or professional advice because of something you have read or watched on the Site.
- In an emergency, call 911 or your local emergency services. If you are in crisis or considering harming yourself, please contact the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988) or another local crisis service.
We make no representations, warranties, or guarantees about the accuracy, completeness, currency, or applicability of any information on the Site to your specific situation. Your reliance on any information on the Site is at your own risk.
4. Third-Party Content and Resources
The Site includes, references, embeds, and links to content from third parties, including but not limited to government agencies (such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), public health organizations, nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and other resources.
- No endorsement. Sentient Research does not necessarily endorse, sponsor, recommend, or otherwise accept responsibility for any third-party content, products, services, opinions, or organizations referenced on or accessible from the Site.
- No responsibility for accuracy. Sentient Research is not responsible for the accuracy, completeness, currency, legality, or usefulness of any third-party content.
- External links. Links from the Site to third-party websites are provided for convenience only. Once you leave the Site, you are subject to the terms and privacy practices of those websites. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, terms, or privacy practices of any third-party site.
- Vimeo-hosted videos. Videos on the Site are hosted by Vimeo. When you watch a video, your interaction with the player is also governed by Vimeo’s terms of service and privacy policy.
5. Federal Funding Disclaimer
To the extent the Site or any of its content was developed with funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services or any other federal agency, the contents of the Site are those of the author(s) and do not necessarily represent the official views of, nor an endorsement by, the funding agency or the U.S. Government.
6. Intellectual Property
Our Content
All content created by Sentient Research and made available on the Site — including videos, text, graphics, images, audio, animations, design, code, and the overall look and feel of the Site (collectively, “Our Content”) — is the property of Sentient Research or its licensors and is protected by U.S. and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
Limited Permission to Use
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable permission to access and view Our Content on the Site for your own personal, non-commercial use only.
Any other use of Our Content requires Sentient Research’s prior written permission. This includes, without limitation:
- Use by educators, health professionals, youth-serving organizations, schools, clinics, community-based organizations, or any other person or entity to show, present, distribute, or otherwise make available Our Content in classrooms, clinics, programs, events, training sessions, or any other group or institutional setting;
- Reposting, republishing, redistributing, broadcasting, or transmitting Our Content;
- Downloading, copying, or storing Our Content beyond temporary technical caching needed to view it on the Site;
- Incorporating Our Content (in whole or in part) into another website, product, program, curriculum, course, or service;
- Creating derivative works, translations, adaptations, summaries, or compilations based on Our Content;
- Any commercial use of Our Content.

“The Next Move,” “Sentient Research,” and any associated logos are trademarks of Sentient Research. You may not use these marks without our prior written permission.
Third-Party Intellectual Property
Third-party content on the Site is the property of its respective owners and is used under license, fair use, or other permission. Nothing in these Terms grants you any rights in third-party content.
7. Acceptable Use
When using the Site, you agree that you will not:
- Use the Site for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site, our servers, or any associated systems;
- Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to disrupt the Site or its underlying infrastructure;
- Use any automated means (including bots, scrapers, or crawlers) to access the Site, except as expressly permitted;
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of any software used by the Site;
- Use the Site to harass, threaten, or harm any other person;
- Submit any unlawful, harassing, defamatory, abusive, fraudulent, or otherwise objectionable content through the contact form or any other Site feature;
- Impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or organization;
- Use the Site to transmit any virus, malware, or other harmful code;
- Remove, obscure, or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices on the Site.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Site at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or for any other reason at our sole discretion.
8. Contact Form Submissions
The Site provides a contact form at www.projectnextmove.org/contact. By submitting a message through the contact form, you confirm that:
- The information you provide is accurate;
- You are not submitting confidential information that should not be shared (please do not send confidential medical information);
- You grant us permission to use your message to respond to you, address your inquiry, and improve the Site.
We are not obligated to respond to every message. Communications submitted through the contact form should not be used to obtain urgent assistance — for emergencies, please contact local emergency services.
9. Privacy
Your use of the Site is also subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect information.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties

- The Site or the servers that make it available are free of viruses or other harmful components;
- Any information on the Site is accurate, complete, current, or applicable to your individual situation;
- Use of the Site will achieve any particular result or outcome.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL SENTIENT RESEARCH, ITS DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, AFFILIATES, FUNDERS, OR CONTRACTORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR USE, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SITE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SITE OR THESE TERMS, REGARDLESS OF THE FORM OF ACTION, WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages; in such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.
12. Indemnification
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Sentient Research, its directors, officers, employees, agents, affiliates, funders, and contractors from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to:
- Your use of the Site;
- Your violation of these Terms;
- Your violation of any applicable law or the rights of any third party.
13. Changes to the Site
We may modify, update, suspend, or discontinue the Site (or any portion of it) at any time without notice. We are not liable to you or to any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Site.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of these Terms. For material changes, we will provide a prominent notice on the Site before the changes take effect.
Your continued use of the Site after the effective date of any updated Terms constitutes your acceptance of those updated Terms.
15. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms and any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the Site are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.
Any legal action or proceeding arising out of or related to these Terms or the Site must be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
16. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted by law, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
17. No Waiver
Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of that provision or our right to enforce it later.
18. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any other policies or notices posted on the Site, constitute the entire agreement between you and Sentient Research regarding your use of the Site, and supersede any prior agreements between you and us on that subject.
