Sentient Research (“we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you visit our website at www.projectnextmove.org (the “Site”). It also describes the rights you have regarding your information.

The Site is an informational website for The Next Move, an entertainment-education program designed for young people ages 15–19 in the United States.

By using the Site, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. What Information We Collect

Information You Provide to Us

The only way you actively provide us with personal information is by using the contact form at www.projectnextmove.org/contact. If you choose to use that form, we collect:

Your name
Your email address
Any other information you choose to include in your message

You are not required to use the contact form to use the rest of the Site. We do not require you to create an account, register, or provide any personal information to access the videos, content, or resources on the Site.

Information Collected Automatically

When you visit the Site, the following types of information are collected automatically:

Google Analytics data. We use Google Analytics, a third-party analytics service provided by Google, to understand how visitors use the Site. Google Analytics collects information such as your IP address (which we configure to be anonymized where supported), device type, browser type, pages you visit, time spent on pages, referring website, and approximate geographic location (typically city-level). This information helps us improve the Site. You can read Google’s Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing Google’s opt-out browser add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Web server logs. Our hosting provider automatically logs basic technical information such as your IP address, the date and time of your visit, and the pages you requested. These logs are used for security, troubleshooting, and aggregate traffic analysis.
Cookies. The Site uses a small number of cookies, described in Section 4 below.

What We Do Not Collect

To be clear about what we do not do:

We do not offer or require user accounts or registration.
We do not maintain an email marketing list, and we do not send marketing or newsletter emails.
We do not build user profiles or track the activity of individual visitors across sessions or across websites.
We do not sell personal information.
We do not engage in cross-context behavioral advertising.
We do not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13 (see Section 8).
We do not collect Social Security numbers, financial account information, government IDs, biometric data, precise geolocation, or other sensitive personal information beyond what is described above.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes only:

To respond to your inquiries. If you submit a message through our contact form, we use your name, email address, and message to respond to you and to address your inquiry.
To improve the Site. We use aggregate Google Analytics data and server logs to understand which content visitors find useful, fix technical issues, and improve the Site.
To maintain security. We use server logs to detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security threats.
To comply with legal obligations. We may use information as required by law or to respond to lawful requests from public authorities.

We do not use your information for advertising, targeting, profiling, or any purpose other than those listed above.

3. How We Share Information

We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

Service providers. We share certain information with service providers who help us operate the Site. These include:
Google (Google Analytics) — receives analytics data about Site usage
Vimeo — hosts the videos embedded on the Site (see Section 5)
Our website hosting provider — hosts the Site and processes server logs
We require service providers to use information only for the purposes for which we engage them and to maintain appropriate confidentiality and security.
Legal compliance. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Sentient Research, our users, or the public.
Business transfers. If Sentient Research is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice and require the receiving party to honor this Privacy Policy.

We do not sell or share personal information for advertising, marketing, or any commercial purpose.

4. Cookies

A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device. The Site uses only the cookies needed to operate it:

Essential cookies. Necessary for the Site to function (for example, cookies that support security).
Cookie-consent cookies. Used to remember whether you have accepted the use of cookies on the Site.

We do not use advertising, behavioral, or targeting cookies on the Site.

You can configure your browser to refuse or alert you about cookies. If you disable cookies, some features of the Site may not work properly.

5. Third-Party Content and Links

The Site embeds videos from Vimeo and contains links to, or includes content from, government agencies, public health organizations, and other third parties. We do not control these third parties, and their privacy practices may differ from ours.

Vimeo videos. Although the videos themselves are produced by Sentient Research, they are hosted on Vimeo. When you play a video, Vimeo may collect information about your interaction with the player. Vimeo’s privacy practices are governed by Vimeo’s Privacy Policy at https://vimeo.com/privacy.
Linked or featured third-party content. Content from government agencies (such as the CDC), public health organizations, and other third parties is provided for informational purposes. Sentient Research does not endorse, warrant, or guarantee the accuracy of third-party content, and is not responsible for the content, accuracy, or privacy practices of third-party websites you may visit through links from the Site.

We encourage you to read the privacy policies of any third-party websites you visit and to review Vimeo’s privacy practices if you watch our videos.

6. Data Retention

Contact form messages. We retain messages submitted through our contact form for two (2) years following our last communication with you, after which they are deleted.
Google Analytics data. Analytics data is retained according to our Google Analytics settings and Google’s data-retention policies.
Server logs. Standard server logs are retained for the period determined by our hosting provider for security and operational purposes.

If you would like us to delete a contact-form message you have sent, you can request deletion by contacting us through www.projectnextmove.org/contact.

7. Data Security

We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we collect, including encryption for data in transit (TLS), restricted access to contact-form submissions, and secure hosting infrastructure.

No method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

If we ever experience a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and applicable regulators as required by law.

8. Children’s and Young People’s Privacy

The Site is designed for young people ages 15 to 19 in the United States. We recognize that most of our intended audience are minors.

Children under 13. The Site is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you are under 13, please do not submit any information through our contact form. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Users ages 13 to 17. For users between the ages of 13 and 17, we will not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. As described above, we do not sell or share personal information for any user, and we do not engage in cross-context behavioral advertising.

California minor users. Under California Business and Professions Code Section 22581, California residents under 18 who have submitted content or information to the Site may request removal of that content or information by contacting us. While the law does not guarantee removal in all circumstances, we will use reasonable efforts to honor such requests.

9. Your Privacy Rights

California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights regarding your personal information:

Right to know. You may request that we disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources of that information, the business purposes for which it is collected, and the categories of third parties with whom it is shared.
Right to delete. You may request that we delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to limited exceptions provided by law.
Right to correct. You may request that we correct inaccurate personal information about you.
Right to opt out of sale or sharing. You may direct us not to “sell” or “share” your personal information. As stated above, we do not sell or share personal information.
Right to limit use of sensitive personal information. As stated above, we do not collect or use sensitive personal information beyond what is necessary to provide the Site.
Right to non-discrimination. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us through www.projectnextmove.org/contact. We will verify your request by responding to the email address you provide and may ask for additional information sufficient to confirm your identity before responding. We will respond within the timeframes required by California law (generally 45 days, extendable once by an additional 45 days when reasonably necessary).

Global Privacy Control (GPC). Our Site honors GPC signals as an opt-out of any “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. Because we do not sell or share personal information, all visitors — GPC-enabled or not — receive the same privacy protections.

Do Not Track signals. Our Site does not currently respond to “Do Not Track” browser signals. As described in this Privacy Policy, we do not track individual visitors across websites and do not engage in cross-context behavioral advertising regardless of any DNT signal.

Other U.S. States

Residents of Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws have rights to access, delete, correct, and opt out of certain processing of their personal information. Some states also provide a right to appeal a denial of a privacy request.

Washington residents. The Washington My Health My Data Act provides additional rights regarding “consumer health data.” While we do not collect health information directly, we recognize that questions you may submit through our contact form could relate to health topics. Washington residents may request access, deletion, or withdrawal of consent regarding any such information by contacting us.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will provide a prominent notice on the Site before the changes take effect.

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about our privacy practices.
